A Grand Master Key or GMK security system uses three or more key levels to control access to one or more properties.

At the base level is a set of keys for each individual at that level. The level above may be partitioned and each master key holder has a key that is able to access all areas at the base level as well as other areas exclusive to the holder. The GMK above is the master key that is able to access all areas under all levels, and is usually held by the highest executive within the organisation.

GMK systems greatly reduce the number of keys required within the organisation, as managers and executives only need one key instead of many.
